Netflix has confirmed the new actors who will be joining the cast of its hit series ‘Heartstopper,’ which has officially begun filming the second season in the UK. Netflix revealed a video (watch above) of the cast members confirming the production start and welcoming the new cast members.

The new faces joining the cast of Heartstopper are Leila Khan as Higgs student Sahar Zahid, Jack Barton as Nick’s older brother David Nelson, Nima Taleghani as Truham teacher Mr. Farouk, and  Bradley Riches (Guest appeared as a student in Season 1) will return as Truham student James McEwan.

All the new actors will join the lead cast members returning for Season 2, including Kit Connor, Joe Locke, Corinna Brown, Yasmin Finney, William Gao, Kizzy Edgell, Rhea Norwood, Sebastian Croft, Tobie Donovan, and Jenny Walser. The first season cast also includes Alan Turkington, Chetna Pandya, Fisayo Akinade, Karol Steele, and Jessal Kullar-Bell.

Earlier, we confirmed that the eight-episode second season began filming on September 13 in London, which is expected to wrap up in the first week of December. Based on the current filming schedule, we can expect Heartstopper Season 2 to release in Spring 2023, which is a year later at the same time around when the first season arrived.

The first season of Heartstopper follows Charlie, who meets rugby-loving Nick in secondary school, and they soon realize that their unlikely friendship is growing into an unexpected romance. Charlie, Nick, and their friends must negotiate the universally familiar journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting one another as they learn to be their most true selves.

The first season was adapted from the first two volumes of the graphic novel by Alice Oseman. The second season is likely to be based on the third and fourth volumes, in which Nick and Charlie encounter their first real relationship problems, and they experience and try to overcome personal challenges, respectively. There are a total of six volumes in the graphic novel series.

Alice Oseman is the creator of the series and has also written all the episodes based on her best-selling Graphic Novel of 2016. Heartstopper is directed by the acclaimed Euros Lyn and the incredible team at See-Saw Films - the best possible team to bring this world to life.
