HBO has released the second teaser/trailer (watch above) for the second season of ‘His Dark Materials,’ and it looks as incredibly epic as the first trailer released during the Comic-Con San-Diego virtual. The show will return in November with one less episode this season. However, no premiere date has been announced yet, but the audience can expect the date announcement during Comic-Con New York.

The first season ended when Lord Asriel opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown.

Based on “The Subtle Knife” (the second novel in Philip Pullman’s trilogy), season 2 will see Lyra in a strange and mysterious abandoned city Cittàgazze, where she meets Will, a determined and courageous boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Together, they will encounter extraordinary beings and dangerous secrets, with the fate of both the living and the dead in their hands. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.

Legendary British actor Terence Stamp is joining the cast of the HBO series for its second outing, alongside “Cleaning Up” star Jade Anouka and “Peaky Blinders” alumna Simone Kirby.

Stamp will play the role of Giacomo Paradisi, the bearer of the Subtle Knife, who lives in the Tower of the Angels in Cittàgazze. Anouka will play Ruta Skadi, a witch Queen who joins forces with Serafina Pekkala against the Magisterium. And finally, Kirby has been cast as Dr. Mary Malone, who heads up the Dark Matter Research Team at an Oxford university in our world.

Season two series regulars include Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Amir Wilson, Ariyon Bakare, Andrew Scott, Will Keen, Ruta Gedmintas, and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Joining the cast this season alongside Terence Stamp are Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby.

This series adaptation is produced by Bad Wolf with New Line Productions for the BBC and HBO, in association with BBC Studios Distribution and Anton Capital Entertainment.
