Jonathan Majors is ready to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, after getting a major role in “Ant-Man 3.” He is very likely to play the iconic time-traveling super-villain “Kang the Conqueror” opposite Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.

Peyton Reed, who directed the first films, returns to helm the third installment, with Jeff Loveness penning the script. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige will produce.

“Kang the Conqueror” is a time-traveling entity, several alternate versions of Kang have appeared throughout Marvel’s titles over the years, including his respective future and past heroic selves, Immortus and Iron Lad.

There is another theory related to Kang where he travels back to his own past to prevent an incident where a confrontation with a bully left him in a coma for a year, but meeting his future self so horrifies Kang's past self that he steals Kang's armor and retreats to the past, using an emergency protocol created by the Vision to recruit a new team that comes to be known as the 'Young Avengers', with the young Kang adopting the alias of 'Iron Lad'. When Kang tracks his younger self to the past, the Young Avengers are able to kill him, but the subsequent changes to history force the young Kang to return to his time and erase his memory of these events, although the Young Avengers remain as a team with Iron Lad's armor now self-operating with a consciousness based on an amalgamation of Iron Lad and the Vision.

The original “Ant-Man,” released in 2015, earned over $500 million at the worldwide box office. The follow-up, 2018’s “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” which arrived after the Infinity war, generated $622 million globally.

Majors has recently starred in Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods” opposite Delroy Lindo at Netflix and has taken the lead role of Atticus in HBO’s hit series “Lovecraft Country,” from creator Misha Green and producers Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams.

Prior to these projects, Majors received praise for his 2019 film The Last Black Man In San Francisco, which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. The movie marked Majors’ first leading role, for which he was nominated for a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Actor and a Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male.

The actor is currently in production on Netflix’s “The Harder They Fall” where he plays outlaw Nat Love opposite Idris Elba, Ry Cyler, and Laz Alonso.
