‘Kübra’ Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix, Set to Release this June

Netflix has renewed its Turkish-language drama-thriller series, ‘Kübra’ for a second season, just two weeks after the premiere of the first season. It is also confirmed that ‘Kübra’ Season 2 will be released in June 2024 on Netflix.

Netflix confirmed the renewal by revealing a Turkish audio clip this Friday. They said, "Kübra has a message for you. Kübra returns with its second season in June." The series follows Gökhan, a suburban guy who receives messages that appear to foresee the future, but as he gains a following, he also makes formidable enemies along the way.

Gökhan, who lives in Istanbul's backstreets, is attempting to piece together his life in order to marry the love of his life. His usual existence is upset when he begins getting messages from a user named Kübra via an online friendship network in which he participates: "You are different!" Gökhan eventually recognizes the importance of this message, which he first dismissed, and discovers who Kübra is, who provides him with information and cautions concerning things no one is aware of, including unforeseen events. Gökhan's acceptance of this message sets him on a dangerous path in which he will face both opponents and supporters. Gökhan will also find himself joining sides in a fight he refers to as "the war of darkness and light".

The first season of Kübra premiered on January 18, 2024, and followed an intriguing theme of science vs. belief. It received mixed reactions from the audience as well as the critics. Currently, the show is rated 6.3/10 on IMDb with more than 2000 votes. Our critic wrote, "Kübra simply doesn't have anything interesting to say. However, there were several audiences who liked the show. While praising the show, in one of the reviews a user wrote, "Kubra has a message for all of mankind, one that anybody may understand regardless of religion, nationality, or country. Truth, love, fraternity, joy, pleasure, compassion, and generosity are universal principles that apply to everyone on the planet. The duality inherent in everything forces us to choose between faith and skepticism, love and hatred, light and darkness, balance and chaos."

Kübra stars Çagatay Ulusoy as Gokhan Sahinoglu, Aslihan Malbora as Merve, Ahsen Eroglu as Gülcan, Nazan Kesal as Dilek, Cihan Talay as Salih, and Aytek Sayan as Serhat, among others. The series is based on the novel by Afsin Kum and is directed by Durul Taylan and Yagmur Taylan.
