Episode 8 is finally out, and as we proceed towards the end, we can finally understand with more clarity what the characters are undergoing. The episode starts with Conrad and Maeve dealing with the loss of Brenden. His demise has left the future of the Harrigan family in turmoil. Seraphina, who is visibly shaken, returns to the estate and is put under Harry’s care. Maeve, who is known to be of a cold nature, warms up to Seraphina. She reassures her of her place in this family. Now, this behavior was something a lot of us didn’t expect from Maeve. But the question is, has Maeve really changed, or is it just a calculated move on her part?
Conrad, on the other hand, is highly alert to how events have unfolded. He is concerned for the family's safety and chooses to relocate them to a safe place. Suspicious, he resolves to face Jaime Lopez, the guy who caused Brendan's murder. However, this is more of a negation with the perpetrator, which shows how desperate the Harrigan family has become for survival. Coming to Harry, we see how sharp and cunning he is. He confronts Eddie about his involvement with Gina. And although he says that he approves of the relationship and gives his blessing, he also gives a chilling warning to push him off the mountain. This truly shows how dangerous Harry is. However, while Edie is a bit taken aback, Gina is super chill with everything. She doesn’t care much about Harry’s warning. Coming back to Conrad, he has employed Bella to spy on Kevin and Jan. Meanwhile, Harry is hinting at an impending coup with Kevin. He confides in Freddie that Maeve is a puppet master behind Conrad, and she is controlling him.
Mobland Episode 8 offers a lot, yet it becomes slightly complicated with so many subplots and twists. If you are a careful observer, you will understand what is happening and also find the reasons behind the whys. Each character here is tainted with something or the other in history, and as the past unveils itself before us, we get to see true colors. Conrad has a lot of roles to play in the family. Though grieving, he is a man of practicality. He doesn’t stop at Brendon’s death and quickly plans his actions next. Maeve's character adds an air of intrigue to the entire show, and this episode in particular. She is the one to watch out for. The way she is warming up to Seraphina hints at her intentions. But what are they? Only watching the show will tell us.
There is a lot of tension and political maneuvering happening in this episode. We can't trust any alliance we see because there is a lot of deception happening behind the scenes. Betrayals are increasing, and no one here is guaranteed their life anymore. This crime drama, though a little slow, is opening up to become intriguing and fun to watch.
Final Score- [8/10]
