My Cut of ‘Suicide Squad’ Would be Easy to Complete: David Ayer

After Zack Snyder announced the release of his Justice League Director's cut, the chorus of releasing the director’s cut of Suicide Squad is also gaining the momentum. The DC fans were seen trending #ReleaseTheAyerCut on twitter, and this won't be a big surprise as Director David Ayer has been very vocal that his version of the film was never released.

 

In a tweet on Monday “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer wrote “My cut would be easy to complete. It would be incredibly cathartic for me. It’s exhausting getting your ass kicked for a film that got the ‘Edward Scissorhands’ treatment. The film I made has never been seen” .

The 2016 supervillain team-up movie received lot of negative reviews from fans and critics, and many wondered what had been left on the cutting room floor. Since his movie’s release, Ayer has been vocal about how his original vision for the film had been majorly reworked.

 

Seeing as the “Snyder Cut” of “Justice League” was given life on HBO Max, Ayer expressed interest in making his own version of “Suicide Squad.”

The “Snyder Cut” of Justic League will appear on HBO Max next year. As of now it's not confirmed how long the movie will be. The rumour is also that "Snyder Cut" can be a six-part Series and each episode to be 40 minutes long.

 

“Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn was hired to write and direct a sequel to Ayer’s film in 2019, called “The Suicide Squad.” Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman and Jai Courtney are the only returning cast members from the original film. The new cast includes Idris Elba, Taika Waititi, John Cena, Nathan Fillion and more.

 

Suicide Squad 2 will be hitting the cinemas next year in August. WB and HBO Max should make a quick decision whether to allow Ayer's cut to be released because it will be better if Ayer’s cut arrive before Suicide Squad 2.
