Another Self’s first season was interesting as it talked about life beyond bodies. It links diseases to the way you're born or the trauma you've suffered and keeps bottled inside. The season ended with Zaman’s career as a medical practitioner revealed and Sevgi got married to Fiko. Everything was fine in the previous season until they ruined the show for us.

The second season is majorly a repetition of the first with just a few things added. Sevgi’s cancer came back and this isn't the first time that they've shown the poor woman suffering. The bond shared by Sevgi, Ada, and Layla remained strong. The trio stood with each other through the hardships. They aren't happy in their own lives but at least they've got one another. Layla’s wish to get bigger breasts came true (in the first season they were all shown holding hands and praying to Athens). The wish did come true however there's a twist as she's now pregnant and her husband is rotting in jail.

For Layla, it was already enough to raise her son with limited means and now she's got another pregnancy with a limited source of income. Ada on the other hand had split up from her husband and is with Topak. She thought he'd be the one with whom she'd be happy, it turns out that one should find happiness within and not with someone. Watching Topak’s daughter or Selim’s new family struck some cords. The first three episodes are about how Ada tries to combine her medical knowledge with what Zaman has been preaching.

It's often shown how using others as a vessel, Zaman portrayed the struggles people coming to him had been facing. It seemed awkward knowing how the volunteers knew exactly about the root cause. There's no scientific explanation and the thing is carried out throughout season 1 and 2. At one point, you rethink about the series getting a second season in the first place. Had it been a limited series or they would've stopped with the first, the idea might have been a lot more attractive.

There were certain mysteries kept under the fold when the second season started and there was sadness everywhere. Once things started looking familiar and repetitive, the show lost its charm. I'm all in for what Layla, Ada, and Sevgi did for each other but how long do the writers think that they can show the same story and call it a second season? The actors too mostly have blank faces and it's difficult to identify what their characters are going through. Muko, a character who isn't much shown in the first season gets her due scenes, and her story is shown.

In all, these eight-episode-long series with a duration of an hour each aren't worth your time. The audience will be left disappointed and can easily guess what's coming up next. There are other great Turkish shows with better plot and cast and Another Self stands mediocre in their comparison.

Final Score – [5/10]
