Netflix has renewed the teenage-comedy series “On My Block” for season 4, which will also be its final season. Season 3, which consisted of eight episodes, premiered in March 2020.
The show will return with ten episodes with stars Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco, Jessica Marie Garcia, and Julio Macias back alongside co-creator Lauren Iungerich. Netflix has not yet announced a season premiere date for the new season.
“On My Block” is a coming of age comedy about four bright and street-savvy friends navigating their way through the triumph, pain, and the newness of high-school set in the rough inner city of Freeridge. It mixes the usual adolescent concerns of family obligations, friendships, and romantic relationships with tough topics including gang culture, death, and PTSD. It also includes some larger-than-life elements from kidnappings to a hunt for a mysterious treasure. The third season streamed on Netflix in March 2020.
The show was created by Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Halt, who all executive produce alongside Jamie Dooner. Iungerich, who signed an overall deal with Netflix last year, also serves as showrunner.
