‘Being Eddie’ (2025) Netflix Review - A Fun-Filled Documentary by the Man Himself

Eddie Murphy fans gather around! You have to watch this. This is the version of Murphy wherein he comes close and upfront to you. Our favorite entertainer with impeccable comic timing tells us about his journey throughout the entertainment industry. Not only that, he also takes us through his journey of fatherhood and what it is like raising kids while also juggling a career. A father of 9, he is indeed a happy father to his kids. He takes us through all of them, telling us about their lives while also telling us about his life and his career. We are also shown clippings from his early days of acting, where he explains how he got into acting and how the overall experience was. From Saturday Night Live to Shrek and The Nutty Professor, this man has given us enough of himself in a career that spans decades. Alongside a causal discussion, he also tells us about his favorite show and whatnot. This documentary feels more like a chit-chat talk show where we are the ones witnessing him all throughout. And that is all the fun about it.

Now, if you happen to be an Eddie Murphy fan, you will for sure enjoy watching this one. It covers everything, and when you watch it, for those who are fans, you will enjoy it the most since you have watched him on screen the most. If you aren’t a fan, then you will also enjoy it because Eddie just has it in him to draw people, even if he discusses the most mundane things.

The documentary features not only him, but also his near and dear ones, which makes it even more interesting to watch. The speed of the plot is even. So we aren’t rushing into things. Instead, makers gave us ample time to see and absorb his story. Also, there is plenty of opportunity to laugh at things throughout the run time. I mean, that doesn’t come as a surprise since it is Eddie Murphy that we are talking about, right?

So all in all, this is a total banger of a plot to watch for. It's Eddie and his humor that we need to see for! What is even better is the fact that the makers don’t shy away from showing his career lows. That is what makes everything even more balanced. Hence, it is not a blind praise of Eddie Murphy that you are watching for a long time. There is plenty of it and more.

Dear viewers, whether or not you are a fan of Eddie Murphy, watch this as a light-hearted comedy. See what it offers and witness his career, which includes all the highs and the lows. Not to mention, the role of a family man that he takes on. All in all, a brutally true documentary and a fun thing for us to watch. A big-needed break from all the seriousness of life.
