Netflix Renews ‘Sex Education’ for Season 4

The third season of the hit series, which arrived on September 17, was praised for its writing, the performances of the cast, and portrayal of sexual topics

Netflix has renewed “Sex Education” for Season 4 today. The announcement came during the TUDUM global fan event by Netflix.


The third season of the series premiered just last week on September 17 and has a critical approval rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.  


Season 4 will follow the events after the finale of the third season. Moordale Secondary School had been closed, and Maeve had rediscovered her affections for Otis soon before leaving for America to study.


Season 3 returning stars include Asa Butterfield, Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, George Robinson, Sami Outalball, Chinenye Ezeudu, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells, Aimee-Lou Wood, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Chaneil Kular, Patricia Allison, Anne-Marie Duff,  Alistair Petrie, Simone Ashley, Mimi Keene, Tanya Reynolds, Mikael Persbrandt, Samantha Spiro, Rakhee Thakrar, and Jim Howick. Season 3 also introduced the new headteacher of Moordale School, Hope played by Jemima Kirke.


The series was created by Laurie Nun, who also serves as an executive producer. Executive producers also include Jamie Campbell and Ben Taylor. Eleven produces the show for Netflix.


The series takes place at the Moordale Secondary School and the plot revolves around Otis Milburn (Asa Butterfield). Despite his lack of experience with the opposite sex, Otis realizes that he has an exceptional talent for giving sex advice to his classmates with the help of Maeve Wiley (Emma Mackey), a troubled girl with a smart mind, and his closest friend Eric Effiong (Ncuti Gatwa).
