Netflix has released the official trailer (watch above) for its upcoming crime-drama series “Young Wallander” which will be prequel spin-off to BBC series “Wallander” which aired between 2008 and 2016. The season 1 of the series will arrive on the streamer on September 3. The trailer clearly shows that the series has a vibe similar to that of Sherlock.


The official synopsis for the series says "Kurt Wallander (Adam Pålsson) fresh out of police academy witnesses a brutal crime and is pulled into solving it under the wing of superintendent Hemberg (Richard Dillane)."


The show is based on the Wallander novels, written by author Henning Mankell. Young Wallander will follow the life of Kurt Wallander, Henning Mankell’s famous police inspector, in his 20s. We will see Kurt, who had just graduated. Becoming a police officer who investigates his first gripping case. The series will be set in Sweden.


The first season of the series will have 6 episodes.


The show cast includes Adam Pålsson as Kurt Wallander, Leanne Best as Frida Rask, Richard Dillane as Hemberg, Ellise Chappell as Mona, Sara Seyed as Jasmine, Yasen Atour as Reza Al Rahman, Jordan Adene as Ibra, Kiza Deen as Mariyam, Alan Emrys as Gustav Munck and Charles Mnene as Bash.


Ole Endresen and Jens Jonsson have directed the series with 3 episodes each in their credit. Anoo Bhagavan, Benjamin Harris has penned the script based on the novel.
