I feel that it is high time that Netflix should stop making documentaries on people who aren’t really deserving enough. This docuseries is one of them. The docuseries revolves around Fabrizzio Corona, a self-styled “Paparazzi King” who also happens to be an Italian Entrepreneur and a convicted criminal. We get to see Fabrizio Corona talk about his life and all the other stuff, but the question is, do we need this? At one point, the docuseries feels more like an explanation that he gives about his life. And in between all this, all we get to hear is who his father was, how that shaped his lifestyle. For those of you who don’t know, Fabrizio Corona was involved in the Vallettopoli scandal of money laundering, due to which he was sentenced to thirteen years of prison. Now tell me, do we need to know his story? Is he inspiring enough? Has he made it big in life? Not really. He is known for all the wrong reasons.  And mind you, when he walks us through his life, he starts from the start, that is, he tells us about his highly publicized relationships too, which gathered significant media attention. One of the people on the docuseries claimed that people of Italy came to know more about prisons since he was in them. So this proves the point that whatever Fabrizio Corona is, he is made by the media. Hence, the name “Paparazzi King” comes into the picture.

Another thing that I found really annoying was the fact that the docusries are too complicated to understand in one go. At the first scene, so much was covered about his father and who he was, that I was unable to understand whether the docusries were on him or his father. Then slowly he appears himself, and that’s when we understand that Fabrizzio Corona is the man we are talking about. We are taken through the scandal and clips of him during 2015, where he talks about it with no remorse. But that again leads us to the same question: why are we watching this? He is the man who was making money by filming people during their private moments, and this is the guy Netflix decided to put their money on? We get to see many candid interviews of people who know him, and they, too, share their bits of story, which also includes criticism of him.

The documentary jumps between various eras of Italy, which creates confusion and doesn’t let us really understand what exactly is happening and which timeline to follow. So, for once, even if I am ready to ignore the notorious subject of the plot, the filming and execution are not great enough for me to watch it. At this time, my only humble request to Netflix is that they should stop investing in stupid documentaries. The world is full of people who deserve attention more than this dude.

The only thing we can appreciate here is the brutal honesty with which people come forward. But yes, what other option do you have? You can't defend a man who has done something so gross that he landed behind bars for the crime. Hence, dear readers, watch something else. Netflix has far better documentaries on crime if you are a fan, and this one is totally not worth watching. This was actually an ill-made documentary, which I don’t understand why it was made.

Final Score- [3/10]
