Sony Pictures has revealed the first trailer for the action-thriller movie Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. Directed by Johannes Roberts, The film will be released in theaters on November 24, 2021.


The film is a brand-new adaptation with faithful ties to Capcom’s classic survival horror games, with the story taking place on a fateful night in Raccoon City in 1998 and with the cast in the roles of the iconic game characters.


In RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY, once the booming home of pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, a group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.


Donal Logue will play Chief Irons, Maze Runner‘s Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield alongside Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (Upload) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin.
Chad Rook (The Flash) and Lily Gao (The Handmaid’s Tale) also have been cast in supporting roles.


Franchise producer Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film is producing the pic with James Harris for Tea Shop Productions and Hartley Gorenstein. Constantin CEO Martin Moszkowicz are serving as executive producer with Victor Hadida of Davis Film. Alex Westmore and Colin Scully of Constantin have overseen the project. Jeremy Bolt and Paul W.S. Anderson are also executive producers.


Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems is distributing in the US, while Sony Pictures Releasing International is handling much of the international territories, with Constantin Films overseeing German-speaking territories, Elevation releasing the pic in Canada, and Metropolitan distributing in France.


The first six Resident Evil films, all of which were directed by Paul W.S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, have generated a total worldwide theatrical box office of $1.2 billion.
