‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie’ Leaks Online, Release Date Yet to be Confirmed by Netflix

A complete film leaking before its release is not a new event in Hollywood or the film industry worldwide. Although, it's not a very common incident. This time it's Nickelodeon's upcoming SpongeBob movie titled, ‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie,’ which by the way doesn't even have a release date.

The upcoming ‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie’ is currently set for an exclusive release on Netflix only, sometime this year. However, Netflix has yet to confirm a release date for it. Now the same film has been leaked online, first on X (Twitter), and now on almost every download and torrent website distributing pirated films and shows. The leaked film on Twitter was taken down within hours while serving a copyright notice to the user, but not before it reached more than 500K users on the X itself.

The leaked version available on the pirate websites includes the video with 1080p and 720p quality. Considering that the film is yet to have a release date, this is massive. However, this is not the first time Netflix has encountered this kind of issue. In 2021, “The Guilty” and “The Power of the Dog” were leaked online weeks before their release. It was allegedly due to the mishandling of TIFF critics on-demand digital screener as at the time we were yet to leave the virtual world created after the Pandemic. This time, the cause of the leak seems to be linked to a networking mistake by Pipeline Studios from last year when they had their entire file server opened to the public for a while. However, the leak is not the only issue, someone has also written the entire synopsis on the Fandom's Wiki page of the film. 

In ‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie’, when Bikini Bottom is unexpectedly lifted out of the water, Sandy Cheeks and SpongeBob travel to Sandy's home state of Texas, where they meet Sandy's family and must defend Bikini Bottom from a wicked CEO.

Directed by Liza Johnson and written by Kaz, Tom Stern, and Stephen Hillenburg, the film stars Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks, Tom Kenny as SpongeBob SquarePants, Wanda Sykes as Sue Nahmee, Jamaria Davis as young Sue Nahmee, Johnny Knoxville as Randy Cheeks, Craig Robinson as Pa Cheeks, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick Star, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward Tentacles, Doug Lawrence as Sheldon J. Plankton, Clancy Brown as Eugene H. Krabs, Mary Jo Catlett as Mrs. Puff, Jill Talley as Karen Plankton, and many more.

‘Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie’ will officially be released sometime in 2024 on Netflix, worldwide.
