2023 was indeed a great year for sci-fi shows where we got to see new shows like Silo, Bodies, Moving, Black Knight, The Last of Us, Gen V, Beacon 23, Ahsoka, Monarch, and returning shows like Foundation Season 2, Invasion Season 2, For All Mankind Season 4, From Season 2, Quantum Leap, Upload, and many more. 2024 is also going to be no different in terms of the quantity of new and returning shows, but can they beat the quality of the shows released last year?

The Boys Season 4 is one of the most anticipated returning shows of 2024 along with the second part of Invincible Season 2, Halo Season 2, Apple TV's Severance Season 2, and Netflix's Arcane Season 2. But in this article, we will focus only on the highly anticipated fresh and new shows that are scheduled to release in 2024. I am also not including any MCU or Star Wars show in this list.

Constellation (Apple TV+)

Apple TV+ has termed Constellation as a conspiracy-based science fiction psychological thriller that stars Noomi Rapace as Jo — an astronaut who returns to Earth after a disaster in space — only to discover that key pieces of her life seem to be missing. The series will premiere on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes, followed by one episode weekly through March 27.

The action-packed space adventure series Constellation is an exploration of the dark edges of human psychology, and one woman's desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and recover all that she has lost.

3 Body Problem (Netflix)

3 Body Problem, the highly-anticipated series based on sci-fi books written by Liu Cixin is created by David Benioff & D.B. Weiss (Game of Thrones). The series is set to release on March 21, 2024, on Netflix with all its 8 episodes.

The plot of 3 Body Problem begins in 1960s China with a young lady making a fatal decision that resonates across space and time to the present. When the rules of nature as we know them begin to unravel unexpectedly, a close-knit group of talented scientists must work together with an unrelenting detective to thwart humanity's greatest peril. With its deep puzzles and genre-bending high stakes, 3 Body Problem is an epic thriller that redefines sci-fi drama.

3 Body Problem stars Benedict Wong, Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Alex Sharp, Zine Tseng, Rosalind Chao, Saamer Usmani, Liam Cunningham, Sir Jonathan Pryce, Marlo Kelly, Sea Shimooka, Eve Ridley, and Ben Schnetzer.

Fallout (Prime Video)

Created by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and based on the role-playing video game franchise of the same name, Fallout is probably the most anticipated series of 2024 not just the Prime Video. Fallout is all set to premiere on April 12, 2024

Fallout is a story about the haves and the have-nots in a world where there is practically nothing left to have. The genteel dwellers of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the radioactive hellscape their forefathers left behind 200 years after the apocalypse — and are astonished to discover a tremendously intricate, joyfully strange, and very violent universe awaits them.

Dark Matter (Apple TV+)

Based on the novel of the same name by Blake Crouch, who also serves as showrunner, Dark Matter is an upcoming sci-fi series that is set to release later in 2024 on Apple TV+. The show has already completed filming as per the update in May 2023.

The series follows Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton), a physicist, professor, and family man who gets swept away into another version of his life while walking home one night on the streets of Chicago. When he attempts to return to his world amid the multitude of lives he may have lived, his awe swiftly turns to terror. He embarks on a perilous adventure to reconcile with his rightful family and save them from the most fearsome and unbeatable foe imaginable: himself.

Dune: Prophecy (MAX)

The Dune franchise needs no introduction. The success of the first film in the latest reboot directed by Denis Villeneuve, led to the greenlight of this new series set in the Dune universe. Created by Frank Herbert, the upcoming sci-fi series recently concluded production. As per the press release by HBO, Dune: Prophecy will be released in late 2024 on MAX.

Set 10,000 years before the events of the 1965 novel Dune, the series follows sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen as they fight forces that threaten humanity's future and form the renowned Bene Gesserit religion.

The series stars Emily Watson as Valya Harkonne, Olivia Williams as Tula Harkonne, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina as Princess Ynez, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Mikaela, Travis Fimmel as Desmond Hart, Chris Mason as Keiran Atreides, Mark Strong as Emperor Javicco Corrino, and many more.
