20th Century Studios has released another trailer for ‘The New Mutants’ and this marks the 12th trailer/Promo for the film (including official trailers, teasers, TV spots and clips), which is now unofficially the highest number of trailers released for a single movie before the release. Generally, no one maintains this kind of record, so we can not say who has the previous record.
The new trailer (watch below) didn't make it to the headline of any big pop culture website reporting Hollywood and, this shows how people are bored with the hype of this film now. The first trailer of the film was released back in 2017 when it was not part of Disney and from there on every 6 months, we get a new release date and a new trailer with some extra scenes.
But since it was postponed back in April this year, the film is very frequently getting new trailers and clips. So far, we have approximately around 9-10 mins of footage from the film which is 98 minutes long including the credits.
The New Mutants also holds the unofficial record for changing its release date for the most no. of times which is five now and if Pandemic continues we might see the horror superhero film adding to its record. The previous release dates are April 13, 2018; Feb. 22, 2019; Aug. 2, 2019, April 3, 2020, and now Aug. 28, 2020.
Even the stars of the film are fed up now with the frequent changes in the release and started joking that this film is probably "cursed" and it happened during the Comic-Con panel last month.
Disney just announced that Mulan will move for an exclusive premiere on Disney Plus with an additional premium price. It has come as a big surprise and especially for me as I predicted and wrote one article that The New Mutants is likely to move to VOD but as usual, Disney decided to ignore the film.
The New Mutants is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on August 28, we can't be sure that it's gonna come out that day but we certainly hope so.
