After renewing “The Society” last year for a second season, Netflix has reversed its decision and canceled the show, the news may come as a shock to fans but the increased budget due to COVID-19 pandemic led to it. Netflix has also canceled “I Am Not Okay With This” which has reportedly started working on its season 2.

The second season of “The Society” was set to premiere in late 2020.

Both the decision is not likely to go down well with the fans as both were equally loved and fans were eagerly waiting for a positive decision. Both the shows ended at a cliffhanger and hinted at exciting season 2 and this is going to make the fans angry as both of them are now ending without any proper conclusion.

Netflix users are not very happy customers this past and current week due to recent decisions made by the streamer, the cancelation of ‘Patriot Act With Hasan Minhaj,’ outrage over the sexualization of kids on Cuties poster and now this decision has now made them rethink their Netflix subscription.

According to Netflix, Both shows were well-liked internally at Netflix in addition to the critical acclaim they received upon release. Uncertainty around production dates and balancing the availabilities of a large cast like The Society, coupled with unexpected budget increases due to COVID led to the decisions on The Society and I Am Not Okay With This.

We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons of The Society and I Am Not Okay With This,” Netflix said in a statement. “We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment for I Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis for The Society; and all the writers, casts and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.

Created by Chris Keyser and starring Kathryn Newton, “The Society” followed a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town without any trace of their parents. Their newfound freedom will be fun, but it will also be very dangerous. As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive.

Co-created by Jonathan Entwistle and Christy Hall based on the Charles Forsman graphic novel, “I Am Not Okay With This” is written by Hall and directed by Entwistle. It is about a teenage girl navigating the trials and tribulations of high school, all the while dealing with the complexities of her family, her budding sexuality, and… mysterious superpowers just beginning to awaken from deep within her. It starred Sophia Lillis, Wyat Oleff, Sofia Bryant, Aidan Wojtak-Hissong, Richard Ellis, and Kathleen Rose Perkins.
