Netflix has released an extended trailer (watch above) of its upcoming movie ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7,’ which stars Fantastic Beast’s Eddie Redmayne and The Matrix 4’s Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. The Trial of the Chicago 7 will be released at Netflix globally on October 16. The film is already available to watch in selected theaters in the United States.


The new trailer shows more court footage along with street protests and confrontation with the police.


Directed and scripted by Oscar and Emmy winner Aaron Sorkin, The film tells the story of 7 activists who were charged with conspiracy and inciting to riot by the US government after protests broke out during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois.


The cast includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Keaton, Frank Langella, John Carroll Lynch, Eddie Redmayne, Mark Rylance, Alex Sharp, Jeremy Strong, Noah Robbins, Danny Flahery, Ben Skenkman, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Caitlin Fitzgerald, Alice Kremelberg, John Doman, J.C. MacKenzie, Damien Young, Wayne Duvall, and C.J. Wilson

 

Abdul-Mateen II, who has also played Cal Abar in HBO's Watchmen, plays defendant Bobby Seale in the movie, while Redmayne takes on the role of fellow defendant Tom Hayden.


Marc Platt, Stuart Besser, Matt Jackson, and Tyler Thompson are producers. Executive producers are Laurie MacDonald, Walter Parkes, Marc Butan, Anthony Katagas, James Rodenhouse, Shivani Rawat, Kristie Macosko Krieger, and Nia Vazirani.
