Action-Thriller Series ‘Narco-Saints’ (Suriname) Gets Trailer and Release Date on Netflix

Netflix has revealed the first teaser trailer for the Korean-language action-thriller series, ‘Narco-Saints.’ The series also known as Suriname and The Accidental Narco will release on September 9 on Netflix, worldwide.

Based on real-life events, ‘Narco-Saints’ is about an ordinary entrepreneur who has no choice but to risk his life by joining the covert mission of government agents to capture a powerful Korean drug lord operating in Suriname.

The series features a star-studded lineup of cast members, and the synergy between these top actors and the director is very much anticipated.

Ha Jung-woo plays Kang In-gu, a man who travels to Suriname in search of big bucks but finds himself knee-deep in drug smuggling. Hwang Jung-min plays Jeon Yo-hwan, a powerful drug lord who controls Suriname. For the first time, renowned actors Ha Jung-woo and Hwang Jung-min appear together in a series. Park Hae-soo plays Agent Choi, the National Intelligence Service agent in charge of operations in the Americas, who enlists Kang In-gu's help to apprehend Jeon Yo-hwan. Jo Woo-jin plays Byun Ki-Tae, an ethnic Korean from China who serves as Jeon Yo-hwan's right-hand man and does all of his dirty work. Yoo Yeon-seok will take on the character of David Park, the lawyer, and brains behind Jeon Yo-hwan's empire.

Director Yoon Jong-bin ventures into the uncharted ground with ‘Narco-Saints, his first series, and collaboration with Netflix. Yoon Jong-bin established himself as a leading director in Korea with films such as The Spy Gone North, Kundo: Age of the Rampant, and Nameless Gangster: Rules of the Time. He has made a name for himself as a producer with films including The Closet, Money, and A Violent Prosecutor.

Based on actual events, Narco-Saints promises to deliver an astounding account of those embroiled in drug crimes in a country where law and order have little impact. This series marks Yoon Jong-bin’s first incursion into a drama series and stars A-listers Ha Jung-woo, Park Hae-soo, Hwang Jung-min, Yoo Yeon-seok, and Jo Woo-jin.
