While fans are still anxiously waiting for the first pairing of Golden Globe winner Emily Blunt and blockbuster star Dwayne Johnson for the upcoming Disney Adventure "Jungle Cruise", Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are re-teaming for the superhero movie “Ball and Chain” , according to Deadline.

The film, which is being written by Emily Gordon, is an adaptation of the four-part comic book series of the same name by Scott Lobdell and follows Edgar and Mallory Bulson, a married couple who are going through relationship turmoil. However, their lives are flipped upside down when a mysterious meteor bathes the couple in extraterrestrial energies, giving them super-powers that only work when they’re together.

The project is currently being shopped around to multiple studios in what’s being considered an increasingly heated bidding war, with sources reporting that Netflix is currently emerging as the most likely to acquire the rights to the film but no distribution deal has closed.

Johnson is attached to produce the film through his banner Seven Bucks with Dany and Hiram Garcia, while Kevin Misher, who worked with Johnson and Seven Bucks for Fighting With My Family, is also set to produce with Gordon and Blunt.

The two actors will appear in Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” which was set to be released on July 24, 2020 but but was pushed to July 30, 2021 due to theater closures amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Johnson will next be seen in Netflix’s action-comedy “Red Notice” opposite Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.

Blunt will soon appear in “A Quiet Place Part II,” opposite spouse John Krasinski, who also directed the thriller sequel. Paramount had planned to release the film on March 18, but decided to push it to Sept. 4 due to coronavirus.
