Apple has released an extended trailer (watch above, Song: "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by Eurythmics) for the second season of its sci-fi drama series ‘For All Mankind’ today. Season 2 will premiere on February 19 on Apple TV Plus.

Season 2 will see the series jump 10 years from last season’s timeline. Series creator Ronald D. Moore revealed during the comic-con panel discussion (July 2020) that 10 years jump stems from the post-credit scene in the Season 1 finale that showed NASA’s Sea Dragon rocket. The producers and cast discussed the jump, with Moore setting the scene against the backdrop of rising Cold War tensions with the Soviet Union. Ronald Reagan’s words warning of the threat serve as the narration.

‘For All Mankind’ is set in an alternative 1969, the world, and especially the United States, watch in shock as the Soviet Union successfully manages to land men on the Moon before the USA does. With that defeat, NASA is presented with a renewed challenge in the space race that they never expected to face. Now, the cold war rivalry takes on a new intensity and grander ambition to reach far further than ever dreamed and with more diverse resources than ever before.

For All Mankind is created by Emmy® Award winner Ronald D. Moore (Outlander, Battlestar Galactica), Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. Told through the lives of NASA astronauts, engineers, and their families, For All Mankind presents an aspirational world where NASA and the space program remained a priority and a focal point of our hopes and dreams.

For All Mankind stars Joel Kinnaman, Michael Dorman, Wrenn Schmidt, Shantel VanSanten, Sarah Jones, and Jodi Balfour. Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Matt Wolpert, Ben Nedivi serve as executive producers. The series was picked up for a second season in October 2019.
