Amazon’s Fantasy series “Carnival Row” has completed filming for season 2, the show was left with 2 weeks of filming when the lockdown happened in the Czech Republic due to coronavirus.
The show’s second season began filming on Nov. 11, 2019 but was halted on March 12. International shoots in the Czech Republic were allowed to resume on May 7, but U.S. productions held back until agreements were in place between Hollywood studios and unions.
The only remaining thing now is the post-production which will hopefully be completed in a few weeks. The second season was supposed to arrive this month if everything had gone according to the plan. Fans can expect an announcement or a teaser in the comic-con New-York (virtual) which will be held between October 8-12. The second season is likely to arrive in the first quarter of 2021.
Season two showrunner, Erik Oleson, said: “The craftsmanship of our Czech crew is second to none, among the best I have ever seen in 30-plus years in the business. The massive sets of ‘Carnival Row’ are built out in such meticulous detail that you wouldn’t know you’re on a backlot. You can walk its streets and alleys and directly into buildings that are functional working sets of their own. What would be prohibitively expensive to construct and film elsewhere is not only possible in the Czech Republic, the locals make it happen for a reasonable price and with a smile.”
Earlier season 1 showrunner Travis Beacham has quitted the show which delayed the season two filming back in October 2019.
"Carnival Row" starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne is a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose rich homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing immigrant population struggles to coexist with humans in the grimiest section of the city -- forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate, and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbors a secret that endangers Philo's standing during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row. As Philo investigates, he reveals a monster no one could imagine.
The show also stars Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi, Andrew Gower, Karla Crome, Arty Froushan, Sinead Phelps, Indira Varma, and Jared Harris.
The Emmy-nominated series is a joint venture between Amazon Studios and Legendary Television.
