Horror Movie ‘The Monkey’ Officially Begins Filming

Based on the short story by Stephen King, the horror-thriller film stars Theo James in the leading role

The upcoming horror movie based on the short story by Stephen King, ‘The Monkey’ has officially begun filming this Monday (February 5, 2024) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Directed by Osgood Perkins, who has also adapted the screenplay, the film stars Theo James in the leading role.


The filming will take around 50 days to wrap up. As per the current production schedule, The Monkey will wrap filming on March 22, 2024. The additional cast of the film is yet to be revealed.


‘The Monkey’ follows twin brothers Hal and Bill, as when they discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic, a series of gruesome deaths starts occurring all around them. The brothers decide to toss away the monkey and continue their lives, growing apart over time. But as the strange killings resume, the brothers must band together to discover a method to permanently eliminate the monkey before it takes the lives of everyone close to them.


James Wan, the creator of "The Conjuring" Universe and co-creator of Saw and Insidious, is producing with Atomic Monster partner Michael Clear (M3GAN), and C2 Motion Picture Group’s Jason Cloth (Joker) and Dave Caplan (Babylon).


Automatik's Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious) and Fred Berger (La La Land), Chris Ferguson (Child's Play), and Stars Collective's Peter Luo and Nancy Xu, together with John Friedberg (Greenland), will executive produce The Monkey for Black Bear International. The film's idea was created with Atomic Monster and Stars Collective, with C2 Motion Picture Group providing complete financing.
