Netflix has revealed the first trailer (watch above) and a premiere date for the supernatural and horror series, ‘Archive 81.’ Created by Rebecca Sonnenshine, ‘Archive 81’ will release on January 14, 2022, on Netflix, worldwide.
Archive 81 is loosely inspired by the popular found-footage horror podcast of the same name. The series follows Dan Turner (Mamoudou Athie), an archivist who takes the job of fixing a collection of corrupted videotapes from 1994. He gets dragged into Melody Pendras' (Dina Shihabi) investigation of a dangerous cult at the Visser apartment complex while reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras. As the season progresses across these two universes, Dan becomes increasingly preoccupied with discovering what happened to Melody. Dan becomes persuaded he can save her from the horrific death she faced 25 years ago as the two characters create a mysterious connection.
The first season will have eight episodes of one-hour each. Below are the first look images:

Archive 81 is executive produced by showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys, The Vampire Diaries), James Wan and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster, Rebecca Thomas, Antoine Douaihy (Panic, The Good Cop), and Paul Harris Boardman (Deliver Us from Evil). Boardman (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us From Evil) developed the original script. The original Archive 81 podcast was created by Marc Sollinger and Daniel Powell, also a co-producer on the series. Rob Hackett is a Co-Executive Producer.
Rebecca Thomas, whose previous includes Stranger Things, Limetown, serves as Executive Producer. She has directed half of the season, including the first episode.
