Hulu has officially canceled its latest Marvel series “Helstrom” after its season 1 premiered back in October. The cancellation comes just days after Marvel and Disney Plus announced a new slate of series for MCU. Helstrom comes from the now-defunct Marvel Television and is not part of Marvel Studios’ TV strategy of series integrated into the MCU that run exclusively on Disney Plus.

Helstrom comes from the former head of Marvel television Jeph Loeb. However, Loeb is not completely out of the Marvel picture as of yet. Two Marvel animated series — “M.O.D.O.K” and “Hit-Monkey” — on which Loeb is an executive producer are both still on track at Hulu, though they were originally supposed to be part of a four-series Marvel crossover event that has since been scrapped. The other two shows, Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler, were dropped in January following creative differences, and the idea of a shared universe that culminated in the special was dropped.

As the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer, The series follows Daimon (Tom Austen) and Ana Helstrom (Sydney Lemmon), the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity - each with their attitude and skills.

Helstrom was created for television and executive produced by Paul Zbyszewski along with Karim Zreik and Jeph Loeb. Helstrom is co-produced by Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios, part of Disney Television Studios. The series stars Kyle Warren, Xavier De Salaberry, Fiona Dourif, Tom Austen, Sydney Lemmon.

The show has a 27% score among critics on RottenTomatoes, though user ratings are much higher at 87%. Helstrom was picked up to series in May 2019 alongside a live-action Ghost Rider. Four months later, Hulu pulled the plug on Ghost Rider after creative differences with the project, which was exec produced by Zbyszewski as he plotted a joint universe for both dramas.
