Korean Drama ‘Thirty-Nine’ Gets Trailer and Release Date on Netflix

The 12-episode series follows a trio of best friends standing together as they experience life, love, and loss on the verge of turning 40

Netflix has revealed the first trailer for the Korean-language family drama, "Thirty-Nine." Starring Son Ye-jin, Jeon Mi-do, and Kim Ji-hyun, the series will premiere every Wednesday and Thursday starting February 16 on JTBC in South Korea. The episodes will be available to watch on Netflix, worldwide, soon after their weekly premiere on JTBC.


Directed by Kim Sang-ho, the series revolves around the life, friendship, romance, and love of three friends, who are about to get 40 years old.


The series stars Son Ye-jin as Cha Mi-jo, director of Gangnam Dermatology Clinic; Shin So-hyun as young Cha Mi-jo; Jeon Mi-do as Jeong Chan-young, an acting teacher; Ha Seon-ho as young Jeong Chan-young; Kim Ji-hyun as Jang Joo-hee, a cosmetics manager at a department store; and Lee Da-yeon as young Jang Joo-hee. 


In addition to the main cast, It also stars Yeon Woo-jin as Kim Seon-woo, 39-year-old dermatologist; Lee Moo-saeng as Kim Jin-seok, a 42-year-old Champ Entertainment representative; Lee Tae-hwan as Park Hyun-joon, a 35-year-old Chinatown president and chef; Seo Ji-young as Mi-jo's mom; Song Min-ji as Kang Seon-joo, she is from a wealthy family and has a strong desire to have whatever she wants; Ahn So-hee as Kim So-won, younger sister of Kim Seon-woo and a pianist; and Seo Hyun-cheol as Jeong Chan-young's father.


"Thirty-Nine" began filming in August 2021 after confirming the cast. It wrapped in January this year.


In April 2021, it was revealed that Son Ye-jin and Jeon Mi-do were in talks to appear in Thirty-Nine, a 12-episode mini-series co-produced by Lotte Cultureworks and JTBC Studio. Son confirmed her appearance in June 2021, while Jeon and Kim Ji-hyun confirmed in August. Thirty, Nine marks Son's return to JTBC after almost three years as she last appeared TV series Something in the Rain at JTBC in 2018.
