Netflix has released the first trailer for its Christmas film, “Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey.” The film will be released globally on Netflix and selected theaters on November 13.

“Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey” is a musical adventure set in the gloriously vibrant town of Cobbleton. The film follows toymaker and inventor Jeronicus Jangle (voiced by Whitaker) who spends his days creating fanciful inventions. Keegan-Michael Key plays his trusted apprentice who steals his most prized creation. Newcomer Madalen Mills plays Jangle’s grandaughter, who discovers a long-forgotten invention and awakens the magic within for a holiday adventure.

The film stars Oscar-winner Forest Whitaker, with original songs by producer and singer John Legend has written original songs for the film. Golden Globe Nominee Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington 2) joins Emmy Award Winner Keegan-Michael Key, Tony Award Winner Phylicia Rashad, Tony Award winner Anika Noni Rose, newcomer Madalen Mills, and Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker.

Director David E. Talbert posted the pictures on Instagram and wrote: “Twenty years in the making… excited to share first look photos of my new film Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey – Netflix’s first original live-action musical.

The film shot in the historic British town of Norwich, transforming the cobbled streets and houses in the area into a Victorian snowy town, dressed for the holidays.

Other cast members include Anika Noni Rose (“The Princess and the Frog”), Kieron Dyer, Justin Cornwell, Lisa Davina Phillip, and “Downton Abbey’s” Hugh Bonneville.

John Legend’s production company Get Lifted is behind the film. Legend has also contributed original songs for the musical film, and the brand new song, “This Day” performed by Usher and Kiana Ledé could become a contender in the Best Original Song category.
