Netflix has revealed a new and extended trailer (watch above) for its upcoming satire sci-fi comedy and multi-star movie, “Don’t Look Up.”Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio as two low-level astronomers, the film will release on December 10 in theaters and December 24 on Netflix, worldwide.
The film follows two low-level astronomers who must go on a giant media tour to warn mankind of an approaching giant asteroid that will destroy planet Earth.
The movie also has a star-filled sub cast that includes Rob Morgan, Jonah Hill, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Ariana Grande, Melanie Lynskey, Scott Mescudi, Himesh Patel, Michael Chiklis, and Tomer Sisley
Written and directed by Adam McKay, the film revolves around Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio), who discover a comet orbiting within the solar system. The issue is that it is on a collision trajectory with Earth. But Nobody appears to be concerned about it. It turns out that warning humanity about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is a tough truth to tackle.
Kate and Randall embark on a media tour with the assistance of Dr. Oglethorpe (Morgan), which takes them from the office of President Orlean (Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Blanchett) and Jack (Hill) (Perry). With only six months until the comet's impact, navigating the 24-hour news cycle and capturing the attention of the social media-obsessed population before it's too late proves comical.
