Ryan Reynolds is set to star in Netflix comedy film “Upstate,” which will be co-written by him with John August. Reynolds and August will also be executive producers, Reynolds through his production company Maximum Effort.
The film reunites Reynolds and August who collaborated on the 2007 sci-fi thriller “The Nines,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
August, who wrote Big Fish and the book for the Broadway musical transfer, most recently scripted the Disney live-action blockbuster Aladdin. His screenwriting credits also include “Charlie’s Angels,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Dark Shadows”. He also wrote the novel “Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire.”
For Netflix Reynolds starred in the Michael Bay-directed “6 Underground,” and has been shooting with Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot in the Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed “Red Notice”.
The Deadpool star will be seen in Shawn Levy-directed action-comedy Free Guy and Lionsgate’s upcoming film “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard” with Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek.
Currently, there are no plot details or timelines available for “Upstate.”
