‘The Crown’ Season 5 Trailer Shows Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana

Netflix has revealed the first trailer for the upcoming fifth season of ‘The Crown.’ Elizabeth Debicki is playing Princess Diana in ‘The Crown’ Season 5 which will release on November 9 on Netflix, worldwide.

The trailer shows the cracks starting in the period drama takes place in the tumultuous ’90s, as Prince Charles (Dominic West) and Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) publicly feud and as splinters in the foundation of the royal family begin to deepen. "For years, I’ve called for a more modern monarchy that reflects the world outside," Charles says in the trailer. Meanwhile, Diana dominates the news, as Prime Minister John Major (Jonny Lee Miller) tries to quell political fires. The trailer also shows Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret. 

In Season 5, a significant obstacle for the queen and her family is the nagging question of the crown’s continued relevance as the United Kingdom enters the 1990s. The marriage of Charles and Diana, the Prince and Princess of Wales, who have very different perspectives on what it means to be a royal in modern society, adds to the strain. 

Joining the series in its fifth season are - Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, who takes over the role from Olivia Colman, who portrayed the monarch in Seasons 3 and 4, Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki, who play Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Jonathan Pryce takes over as Prince Philip, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Claudia Harrison as Princess Anne, and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles. Jonny Lee Miller stars as Prime Minister John Major.
