MCU's ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’ has officially started filming today in Australia. The film's leading star Chris Hemsworth confirmed the start of production by posting an image of the welcome ceremony on Instagram.

With the start of production on the upcoming Marvel sequel, star Chris Hemsworth paid tribute to the indigenous Australians who greeted them as they started their shoot.

Chris Hemsworth officially announced the start of production on his fourth solo outing as the God of Thunder, by sharing a photo of himself and returning Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi attending a special "Welcome to Country" ceremony hosted by the Gadigal and Bidiagal Nation.

A beautiful start to our shoot today with a Welcome to Country ceremony from the Gamay dancers of the Gadigal and Bidiagal Nation and performance and karakia by Maori dancers from Te Aranganui.
Indigenous Australians may be just as proud of this country, but many see January 26th as a date signifying the beginning of dispossession, disease epidemics, frontier violence, destruction of culture, exploitation, abuse, separation of families, and subjection to policies of extreme social control. Let’s begin the healing and stand together in unity and support with our First Nations people with solidarity and compassion. Let’s find a date where all Australians can celebrate this beautiful country together.

Waititi co-wrote the script for Thor: Love and Thunder with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Someone Great), which will follow his hit 2017 sequel Thor: Ragnarok. Natalie Portman is set to return to the franchise as Jane, this time wielding Mjolnir as the female Thor, in a storyline based on Jason Aaron’s run on “The Mighty Thor.” Tessa Thompson is set to reprise her role as Valkyrie, while Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) joins the franchise as Gorr the God Butcher, the main antagonist in the film. Taika Waititi also reprises his on-screen role as Korg.

The film also stars Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Matt Damon. The film is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.

Marvel Studios has its hands full at the moment, with cameras currently rolling on Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well as the Disney+ series Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel, and now we can add this project to the list.
