Apple TV Plus has released the first trailer for Tom Holland's crime-drama ‘Cherry.’ The film will get a limited release in theaters on February 26, 2021, and will premiere on Apple TV+ on March 12.
In the trailer, Tom Holland takes on the role of a drug addict forced to rob banks to pay off his debt as he goes through post-traumatic stress disorder.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are from Cleveland, Ohio — the same place where Holland’s character is from. With a serious theme of drug addiction at the center of the crime drama, the Russos hope to shine a light on the impact of the opioid crisis.
In Holland’s first roles working with the Russo Brothers on “Captain America: Civil War” and the most recent two “Avengers” movies, he donned the persona of an innocent, fun-loving Spider-Man. In “Cherry,” the actor takes on a much more serious role for the main character.
Cherry, an Apple Original Films, Hideaway Entertainment, and AGBO production in association with Endeavor Content, stars Tom Holland and Ciara Bravo. Screenplay by Angela Russo-Otstot and Jessica Goldberg.
Starring alongside Holland and Ciara Bravo are Jack Reynor, Kelli Burglund, Jack Reynor, Forrest Goodluck, Jeff Wahlberg, Michael Gandolfini, Kyle Harvey, and Thomas Lennon.
“Cherry” is produced by Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Mike Larocca, Chris Castaldi, Jonathan Gray, and Matthew Rhodes. Executive producers are Todd Makurath, Jake Aust, Kristy Maurer Grisham, and Judd Payne.
