Netflix has canceled yet another fan-favorite show, “Altered Carbon” has not been renewed for a third season and season 2 which premiered in Feb 2020 is now the last season.

The first season aired in 2018. An anime special titled “Resleeved,” which was set before the events of Season 1, was released on March 19, 2020.

'Altered Carbon' is a science fiction web television series on Netflix created by Laeta Kalogridis. Set in a futuristic San Francisco called Bay City, the show takes place over 360 years later in 2384 where a person's memories can be easily tampered with and replaced.

Based on Richard K Morgan’s 2002 cyberpunk novel of the same name, the series scored an Emmy nod for Outstanding Special Visual Effects.

The leading role of Takeshi Kovacs, the former Envoy with mercenary skills, was played by Anthony Mackie in season two. Joel Kinnaman played the role in the first season. The story's plot revolves around the fact that when a synthetic body called a "sleeve" dies, his or her "stack" can be transferred to new bodies, theoretically implying that one can live forever.

Last week, Netflix has canceled two of it's hit shows “The Society” and “I’m Not Okay With This” due to budgetary issues surrounding increased health and safety costs related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both shows were renewed for second seasons before getting canceled.

However, the cancelation of Altered carbon has nothing to do with the Pandemic.

Season 2 of the series also starred Renée Elise Goldsberry, Lela Loren, Simone Missick, Chris Conner, Dina Shihabi and Torben Liebrecht along with Mackie. Will Yun Lee and James Saito guest starred.

Altered Carbon came from Skydance Television. At Netflix, Skydance is also behind the recent Netflix hit The Old Guard.
