Disney Plus has renewed the animated series, ‘Star Wars: The Bad Batch’ for a second season ahead of its two-part season 1 finale. The streamer also announced that season 2 will premiere on Disney Plus next year (2022).
The series comes from Lucasfilm and follows the Clones first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The series has been critically acclaimed and has been popular among Star Wars fans on Disney+.
“Fans have enthusiastically embraced the action and drama of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and we are excited to see the Star Wars animated universe continue to expand on Disney+,” said Michael Paull, president of Disney+ and ESPN+. “We can't wait for the second season of this fan-favorite animated series as the official streaming home of the Star Wars franchise.”
“The entire Lucasfilm Animation team and I would like to thank Disney + and our fans for the opportunity to continue telling the story of the Bad Batch,” added executive producer Dave Filoni.
Star Wars: The Bad Batch follows the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch — and their young command, Omega — as they navigate a rapidly evolving galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.
Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian), Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels), Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance), and Carrie Beck (The Mandalorian) executive produce, along with Josh Rimes (Star Wars Resistance) and Alex Spotswood (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Rau also serves as supervising director, and Corbett is the lead writer.
