Looks like Marvel has found its Ms. Marvel. Deadline has reported that newcomer Iman Vellani is set to star in Disney+ series “Ms. Marvel” based on the comic-book character.
Vellani will play a 16-year-old Pakistani-American Muslim teenager Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), who lives in Jersey City, New Jersey, and looks up to superheroes like Captain Marvel. According to Marvel, she has “an Inhuman ability to alter shape and size [and] employs an idealistic attitude as much as any power to make the world a better place.”
Ms. Marvel hails from writer Bisha K. Ali, Marvel, and Disney Plus recently named Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, and Meera Menon as directors on the project.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has said that in addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala Khan will also be considered for the future Marvel films.
Iman Vellani is very new to the film industry, and it will mark her first official appearance on screen.
“Ms. Marvel” is one of multiple Marvel series in various stages of development and production at Disney Plus. As per our reports, “WandaVision” is slated to premiere on 25th December 2020 at Disney Plus, with “The Falcon and Winter Soldier” in March 2021, and “Loki” in later 2021.
