Netflix has released the first trailer for Kornél Mundruczó’s “Pieces of a Woman,” the first English-language film from the acclaimed Hungarian filmmaker. The film which won the Best Film Award at the 2020 Venice Film Festival will be released on December 30, 2020, in select theaters in the US and globally on January 7, 2021, at Netflix.


The talented cast of the film includes Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Molly Parker, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, Jimmie Falls, Ellen Burstyn.


Vanessa Kirby was awarded the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival.


The film is about a young mother (Vanessa Kirby), when an unfathomable tragedy befalls, she begins a year-long odyssey of mourning that touches her husband (Shia LaBeouf), her mother (Ellen Burstyn), and her midwife (Molly Parker). Director Kornél Mundruczó (White God, winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard Award, 2014) and partner/screenwriter Kata Wéber craft a deeply personal meditation and ultimately transcendent story of a woman learning to live alongside her loss.


Directed by Kornél Mundruczó, the script was penned by Kata Wéber. Kevin Turen and Ashley Levinson for Little Lamb Productions, and Aaron Ryder are the producers.


Martin Scorsese, Sam Levinson, Stuart Manashil, Viktoria Petranyi, Jason Cloth, Richard McConnell, Suraj Maraboyina for Creative Wealth Media, Aaron Gilbert for BRON Studios, Steven Thibault are executive producers.


The film premiered in competition at the 2020 Venice Film Festival and was awarded Arca CinemaGiovani Award for the Best Film.
