DC’s “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” has officially wrapped up filming today in Atlanta, Georgia. The production began in the last week of May with a mandatory COVID test on set for the cast and crew.

After a week of filming, Director David F. Sandberg revealed a short video clip featuring Zachery Levi in his new costume for the film. Later on the new costume for all the superheroes was also revealed (see above).

Sandberg revealed in June 2021 that Grace Fulton will also play the adult superhero version of Mary in the film, replacing Michelle Borth, with Fulton's hair and makeup changed for the superhero version. Set footage revealed a month later that Djimon Hounsou would be reprising his role as the wizard Shazam.

Sandberg confirmed the production wrap via his social media posts.

Earlier, after wrapping up her part Marta Milans said, "And that’s a wrap on Shazam 2 for Mamma Rosa … thank you to the WB Pictures family for making another Shazam movie dream can true. A girl keeps on dreaming and keeps on seeing her dreams come true. Thank you to the most amazing team." Rachel Zegler and Asher Angel also confirmed the production wrap along with Zachary Levi.

Directed by David F. Sandberg and written by Henry Gayden, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” will see most of the cast reprising their roles from the first movie. Zachary Levi returns as superhero Shazam in the sequel, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Superhero Freddy, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Meagan Good as Superhero Darla, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Ross Butler as Superhero Eugene, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, and Marta Milans as Rosa Vásquez.

In addition, we will see Rachel Zegler (undisclosed role), Helen Mirren, who has joined the sequel as Hespera, the evil daughter of Atlas. Lucy Liu will play the villain Kalypso, Hespera's sister. Hespera does not have a clear counterpart in the DC comics, although she obviously has thoughts regarding Shazam's powers, which include the stamina of her father, Atlas, as well as Hercules' strength, Zeus' might, Solomon's wisdom, Achilles' courage, and Mercury's speed.

The first Shazam! movie, which was released on April 5, 2019, grossed $140.4 million in the United States and Canada, and $225.6 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $366 million. It was estimated that the film needed to gross $235–250 million worldwide to break even, and it ended up making a net profit of $74 million when factoring together all expenses and revenues.

“Shazam!” sequel was announced in December 2019 by New Line Cinema and the official title “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” was revealed during the DC FanDome 2020. At the time of the announcement, the film was scheduled to arrive on April 1, 2022, which later moved to November 2022 due to the COVID pandemic. Currently “Shazam! Fury of the Gods” is scheduled for release on June 2, 2023.
