The Expanse Season 5 Finishes Post-Production, Premiere Date Announcement Soon

The best news in 2020 for the sc-fi fans has arrived, Rocinante has geared up and ready to take another flight in the greatest space adventure with captain Holden. Amazon Prime original "The Expanse" has completed post-production for season 5 and the premiere date is likely to be announced during New York Virtual Comic-con. The best thing is, unlike many other shows, The Expanse Season 5 won't be delayed and it will arrive on time.

 

The Expanse Novel series author James S.A. Corey (Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck) announced the news on twitter today. He also shared a photo from the filming of the pilot episode from season 1. "So with the fifth season of #TheExpanse just finishing up post-production, I am thinking back on the beginning of all this. Here's a photo of our gang touring what was to become the Canterbury way back in episode 1 of season 1."

The Expanse Season 4 ended with Marco Inaros and his son Filip on their way to attack Earth with stolen Martian gear. Marco has launched a missile strike on Earth that would penetrate the planet's defenses.

 

Introduced in Season 4, Marco is an OPA extremist intent on getting revenge against Earth and Mars after decades of oppression. Leading the formidable Free Navy in a system already rocked by the emergence of the Ring Gates, Marco is arguably the biggest threat The Expanse has seen, murdering Ashford and launching a deadly attack on Earth without so much as breaking a sweat.

Marco is also the ex-husband of Naomi Nagata and the father of her child Philip. Season 5 is likely to uncover the mystery behind Naomi's past and would focus on her past.

 

With the death of Joe Miller and Ashford in season 4, the show is likely to see a vacuum created by these characters but with the introduction of some late entries last season, the fans might not feel it as much.

 

Portrayed by Steven Strait, Jim Holden will return as the main protagonist, the remaining cast members are also returning this season including Cas Anvar.

 

Season 5 is likely to present Naomi, her biggest, most emotional challenge yet. Motherly ties to Filip could turn Naomi against her friends on the Rocinante, but laid to rest those ghosts could prove to be Naomi's most important storyline.
