Netflix has given an early Season 3 renewal to “The Witcher” before the second season premiere on December 17. The announcement came during the TUDUM global fan event by Netflix.

Netflix also unveiled two exclusive clips from the second season (watch below) along with a Road to season 2 trailer (watch above) which has footage mixed of first and the upcoming season 2.

In the first clip, Geralt reconnects with his old friend Nivellen. And the second clip features Geralt and Ciri.

Netflix is also expanding the Witcher franchise with kids and family series and a second anime feature film. The upcoming anime film will be the second anime film in The Witcher franchise on Netflix. Earlier this year, Netflix released The Witcher: Nightmare of The Wolf, which followed Geralt’s mentor Vessemir.

Returning cast for season 2 includes Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra, while new cast members include Adjoa Andoh as Nenneke, Cassie Clare as Phillippa Eilhart, Liz Carr as Fenn, Graham McTavish as Dijkstra, Kevin Doyle as Ba’lian, Simon Callow as Codringher, Chris Fulton as Rience.

Netflix has already revealed the logline for the second season which says “Convinced Yennefer’s life was lost at the Battle of Sodden, Geralt of Rivia brings Princess Cirilla to the safest place he knows, his childhood home of Kaer Morhen. While the Continent’s kings, elves, humans, and demons strive for supremacy outside its walls, he must protect the girl from something far more dangerous: the mysterious power she possesses inside.”

“The Witcher” was a big hit on Netflix with some 76 million-member homes watching the first season. Based on the bestselling book series by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, Henry Cavill stars in the series, which has previously been adapted into a hit video game franchise.
