Looks like we have unofficially got the name of the upcoming Tom Holland's Spider-Man 3, which by going with the trends should be "Spider-Man: Multiverse at Home." Jokes apart Benedict Cumberbatch is currently in talks to appear in the role of Doctor Strange in Sony and Marvel’s next installment of the Spider-Man franchise. Tom Holland is set to return as Peter Parker with Jon Watts returning to direct.
According to Deadline, the plan is for Cumberbatch to shoot Spider-Man first and then jump into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which Sam Raimi is currently prepping.
Cumberbatch is likely to play a short role as Peter Parker's mentor as we have seen Tony Stark in the Spider-Man Homecoming. Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange is based out of New York City, same as Holland’s Peter Parker, and the characters have already shared the screen in 2018’s “Avengers: Infinity War” during their battle with Thanos.
Earlier, it was reported and unofficially confirmed that Jamie Foxx will reprise his role as Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man franchise.
We have also heard rumors that Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire might return as Peter/Spider-Man from different worlds of the Multiverse. Various other characters like Goblin and Harry are also the talk of the town as they might return as well.
Also, we already know that J.K. Simmons has confirmed that he will return as J. Jonah Jameson from TheDailyBugle, who is a top critic of Spider-Man.
Cumberbatch is due to star in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” for Marvel Studios, which is a sequel to the first Doctor Strange film.
Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori, and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles.
