Netflix has revealed the first trailer and release date for Fistful of Vengeance, a movie sequel to the 2019 TV Series Wu Assassins. Starring Iko Uwais as Kai Jin, Fistful of Vengeance will release on February 17 on Netflix, worldwide.
The film follows Kai, a super-powered assassin, and his buddies Lu Xin and Tommy follow a killer from San Francisco's Chinatown to Thailand to avenge a loved one's death. However, their pursuit eventually entangles them with old adversaries, a mysterious billionaire, and an ancient mystical entity bent on destroying the earth.
The 2019 TV Series Wu Assassins follows an exceptionally skilled martial artist who fights valiantly to rescue an ancient relic that has fallen into the hands of the wrong people. Kai Jin assumed his job as a renowned assassin was done by the end of Season 1, but a mystery envelope hinted otherwise. The standalone film Fistful of Vengeance reveals that Kai Jin and his friends aren't done fighting mystical forces.
In the trailer, it is revealed that restaurant owner Jenny Wah (Li Jun Li) is mysteriously murdered, prompting Kai Jin and his team to band together once more to find the killer in a mission that may take them to confront the Queen of the Bangkok underworld – and they'll have to do it in plain sight.
Fistful of Vengeance is directed by Roel Reiné, who helmed two episodes of Wu Assassins and also directed episodes of the upcoming Halo TV series at Paramount+. The movie is written by Cameron Litvack and Yalun Tu, both of whom have worked together writing and producing the Wu Assassins TV series. Aside from Uwais, the cast of Fistful of Vengeance also features Lewis Tan, Lawrence Kao, Francesca Corney, Jason Tobin, Pearl Thusi, Tony Kranz, JuJu Chan, and Rhatha Phongaam in this fast-and-furious martial arts action film.
