Disney Plus has revealed the first trailer for its upcoming series, “Loki,” centering on the most mischievous character from MCU during the Disney Investor Day. The series will arrive in May 2021.
The upcoming series stars Tom Hiddleston, who will reprise the titular role from the Avengers. Hiddleston, who was last seen absconding with one of the Infinity Stones in “Avengers: Endgame,” will now face magic popping up at different times in history and influencing major events.
Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Sophia Di Martino will also star in the series with Hiddleston. Owen Wilson will play an agent of TVA, a secret organization. The trailer also shows a female look-a-like Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) on a different planet in a different world (Update- She is Female Loki (not 100% confirmed). Other big characters from the MCU including Thor are also likely to return for a guest appearance in the series.
Michael Waldron serves as writer and executive producer on “Loki” with Kate Herron attached to direct all the episodes and executive produce.
Filming for the series began in January 2020, but production was halted in March due to the ongoing pandemic. Production resumed in September in Atlanta, Ga., as the industry began to reopen under COVID safety protocols. The series is reportedly renewed for season 2.
“Loki” will be the third series to premiere on Disney Plus after Wandavision in January 2021 and ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’ in March 2021. We revealed a few months back that Loki will be the third MCU series to premiere on Disney plus and it will arrive few days after the season finale of ‘The Falcon And The Winter Soldier’.
