Netflix's upcoming teenage drama Spanish series ‘Rebelde’ has officially wrapped up filming this Friday (Sept. 17) in Mexico City, Mexico. Woo Films confirmed the production wrap today by sending a special letter congratulating and thanking every cast member.
The filming on the musical-drama series began on March 1st this year and it has taken more than six months to complete the 10-episode first season. We are expecting the first look of Rebelde next Saturday (Sept. 25) during the TUDUM event. Netflix has already confirmed that the show will be part of the event.
The letter from the producer Woo Films reads:
"We have reached the end of this cycle and we want to congratulate you on the work you have done. This project could not have been achieved without the joint effort of all the people who participate in it.
It's a wrap!"
Rebelde is based on the Mexican telenovela of the same name, the plot of the new series is still kept under the wraps. Rebelde (2004), which has 440 episodes across three seasons was set at the Elite Way School, a prestigious private boarding College in Mexico City with a major plotline revolving around six students. The Netflix series will also follow a similar plot with original cast member Estefanía Villarreal, who played Celina Ferrer will return as the Principal of Elite Way School.
The series also stars Azul Guaita as Jana Cohen, Franco Masini as Luka Colucci, Sergio Mayer Morias Estebán, Andrea Chaparro as M.J., Alejandro Puente as Sebastián Langarica-Funtanet, Jeronimo Cantillo as Dixon, Lizeth Selene as Andi, and Giovanna Grigio as Emilia.
Based on Rebelde Way by Cris Morena and Rebelde by Pedro Damián, the series is directed by Santiago Limón from a script written by Ilse Apellaniz, José Miguel Núñez, Talia Rothenberg, and Pericles Sánchez. Woo Films and Propagate have co-produced the series alongside Netflix.
Earlier this year, while announcing the series, Netflix shared a letter on behalf of Principal Celina Ferrer, which reads:
