The third season of ‘The Witcher’ has officially begun filming today (April 4) in London, UK. The filming will take place in various locations in the UK including Arborfield Studio. The production is expected to wrap up in December 2022.

Netflix renewed the hit series for the third season, months before Season 2, which was released on December 17, 2021. The new joiners in the Season 3 cast are likely to be revealed this week.

The Witcher Season 2 finale teased a more significant role of “conjunction of the spheres” for the third season. In the second season, Geralt of Rivia tried to explore the conjunction of spheres with Ciri, Vesemir, and Yennefer, the upcoming limited series will explain its origin. The limited spinoff to the series, ‘The Witcher: Blood Origin’ is likely to release this Summer.

In Season 3, As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl's untapped powers; instead, they discover they've landed on a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.

Season 3 episodes will be directed by Stephen Surjik (Reacher, The Umbrella Academy), Gandja Monteiro (Brand New Cherry Flavor, The Chi), Loni Peristere (American Horror Story, A Series of Unfortunate Events), and Bola Ogun (Raising Dion, Lucifer).

In the Season 2 finale, Ciri takes Geralt and Yennefer away to an unknown world, where Voleth Meir abandons Yennefer's body. Ciri, Geralt, and Yennefer see the Wild Hunt plotting Ciri's kidnapping as Voleth Meir recreates its body and rejoins them. Yennefer returns to Kaer Morhen after fleeing that world to discover that her powers have returned. Ciri cannot stay at Kaer Morhen, Geralt realizes. The Brotherhood and the surviving Northern rulers set a bounty on Ciri and her protectors after discovering that Vizimir is after her. Ciri's Elder blood is revealed to Francesca by Istredd, and she knows Ciri represents the elves' hope. Emperor Emhyr arrives at Cintra and says that he murdered Francesca's baby; he arrests Fringilla and Cahir for lying to him and is later revealed to be Ciri's father, Duny.
