The Boys star Jack Quaid who plays Hughie in the series is set to star in the newly announced “Scream” reboot (or Scream 5) by Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media, which will debut in theaters on January 14, 2022.
Quaid will join Courteney Cox and David Arquette who are reprising their roles as news reporter Gale Weathers and sheriff Dewey Riley respectively, along with Lissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. It’s not clear who Quaid will play in the film.
The reboot will be directed by Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett with James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick penning the script. Creator Kevin Williamson and Chad Villella are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein, and William Sherak serving as producers. The studio expects filming to begin later this year in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The original “Scream” was released in 1996 was successful at the box-office and thereafter the film has got three sequels with the last film coming out in 2011. The franchise has made over $600 million overall.
Quaid credits also include the independent comedy “Plus” and the first two “Hunger Games” films.
